MT BATUR & OUR MISSION
Thank you for choosing Mt Batur Sunrise Trekking Company. When you’re with us, you’re part of the family.
Mt Batur Natives, Mt Batur Specialists
Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking Company is a fairly new operation, but with experienced guides who have climbed Mt Batur thousands of times.
Many of the guide companies offer all sorts of activities and services for travelers, but since we are Kintamani and Mt Batur locals, we wanted to do something different and form a company specifically for Mt Batur volcano treks.
Most of us grew up climbing, camping and playing on the mountain as children. We swam in Lake Batur everyday after school and played all sorts of games in the jungle. The volcano, Kintamani and the surrounding area is our life and we want to share the sacred customs, rituals and enthusiasm of this magical place with all the travelers who come to our beautiful island of Bali.
Our promise to you is that we will give you 100% on every trek. We will accommodate you as much as possible and be your trusted guide, companion and friend. We want your trek with us to be like trekking with a close friend. When you trek with us, you are part of our family.
We appreciate that you have traveled far to come to Bali and are honored that you have chosen Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking Company as your trusted guide for your trek. We hope that your experience with us will live up to, and perhaps exceed, your expectations.
We encourage your feedback so please contact us at mtbatursunrisetrek@gmail.com if you have any questions.

More than a Volcano
As of September 20, 2012 Mount Batur and the Caldera have been a part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. Though Mount Batur is a live volcano, it is not currently active. The last time it erupted was in 2000. It was formed over 23,000 years ago by one of the most massive volcanic eruptions in the earth’s history.
The caldera is like a crater rim caused by the top of the volcano collapsing on itself. Over thousands of years, water began to fill the caldera to form Lake Batur. The area includes over a dozen villages. The largest is Kintamani, a destination and intriguing community on its own. Many of the “original” Balinese originated from here and many of the customs of the locals are different from other areas in Bali. When you come here, you will be welcomed by the warmth and friendliness of the locals and will immediately notice the genuine nature of their character.
Mount Batur rises 1,717 meters (5,633 ft) above sea level. The sunrise atop the summit is truly spectacular with it’s views of holy Mount Agung and the distant Mount Rinjani as far away as Lombok.
The hike to the top is not difficult, but may be a bit more challenging for those who are not conditioned for physical activity. This trek and mountain are safe to climb and are a popular destination for travelers to Bali.
